Phoenix Arch

Overview. I do enjoy small arches like this one. It reminds me a lot of Arch of Triumph in Red River Gorge and is definitely on the playful side. It’s easy to miss even though it sits right off some double-track trail, so be sure to add the GPS waypoints below.

Trail navigation. From Forest Road 193, take the double-track trail and head north. At mile 0.14, cross over some exposed sandstone and turn left to descend slightly and wrap around to find Phoenix Arch.

CAUTION - Poisonous snakes. Timber rattlesnakes and copperheads can be found in the region. Stay alert on the trail, as snakes are commonly found taking in the warmth of the trail. Give them a wide berth or wait for them to move off the trail.

CAUTION - Bears. Black bears are growing in number throughout Daniel Boone National Forest. Be sure to follow bear safety precautions. [Be Bear Aware by US Forest Service]
