Bear Creek Overlook

Overview. This is an absolutely gorgeous overlook - especially for sunset! This was my last stop before heading north for home, and looking back, I wish I’d have stayed here until nightfall. That said, several weeks before or after this July hike would be ideal, as the sun would set directly above Bear Creek for an amazing view.

Trail navigation. Follow the double track trail through the meadow and forest to arrive at the overlook. Retrace your steps to return to the parking lot.

CAUTION - Poisonous snakes. Timber rattlesnakes and copperheads can be found in the region. Stay alert on the trail, as snakes are commonly found taking in the warmth of the trail. Give them a wide berth or wait for them to move off the trail.

CAUTION - Bears. Black bears are growing in number throughout Eastern Kentucky. Be sure to follow bear safety precautions. [Be Bear Aware by US Forest Service]
