Overview. On August 25, 1965 a plane crashed just below this overlook; may they rest in peace. That said, this is a beautiful and less visited overlook owing its views to a large slab of exposed sandstone. It has a perfect (and level) perch with great views south-southwest.

Overlook name. I could not locate a name on any maps for this overlook, but it is clearly well known and visited often. If you know of a different name, please leave it in the comments below.

CAUTION - Steep sandstone, cliff. Take care with your footsteps to avoid sliding down the steep exposed sandstone over the cliff below.

CAUTION - Poisonous snakes. Timber rattlesnakes and copperheads can be found in the region. Stay alert on the trail, as snakes are commonly found taking in the warmth of the trail. Give them a wide berth or wait for them to move off the trail.

CAUTION - Bears. Black bears can be found throughout the Pine Mountain region. Be sure to follow bear aware practices. [Be Bear Aware by US Forest Service]
