Buzzard Rock in Big South Fork

Overview. I’ve seen a lot of vistas in Kentucky, and this one is up there on that list. Forget about the graffiti on the rock, the view here is special. Situated at a bend in South Fork and with an uninterrupted viewshed, this is a fantastic place to sit a spell and have a think.

Trail navigation. This unmarked trail begins just to the right of a berm and associated pond. Come around the pond to find the double-track trail. Continue uphill before descending more steeply nearest Buzzard Rock. Careful with your steps on the uneven rock. Retrace your steps to return to the lot.

CAUTION - Cliffs. Be careful to avoid getting too close the edge of cliffs. This hike may not be suitable for younger children.

CAUTION - Poisonous snakes. Timber rattlesnakes and copperheads can be found in the region. Stay alert on the trail, as snakes are commonly found taking in the warmth of the trail. Give them a wide berth or wait for them to move off the trail.
